Last year Arun Lakra’s Sequence premiered as part of Downstage’s theatre season and the play won both the Betty Mitchell Award for Best New Play and the Calgary Critics Award for Best New Script. Sequence has been the winner of numerous awards since and is now getting published by Playwrights Canada Press.
I think it’s important to celebrate and support the successes of Calgary playwrights and have to admit that I admire Lakra for being able to pull it all off. Seriously.
The book launch takes place at Shelf Life Books, Wednesday, April 16th at 7:30pm. The original cast of Downstage’s production is doing a reading, so if you missed the run, you definitely should catch this! You can read my interview with Lakra back when he had his first reading here.
